Ok, so I'm a salsa fanatic, I know almost every recipe for salsa there is, and yet..>______________________________...
** Basic Salsa**
3 tomatos
2 Jalapenos or serrano peppers or ( Piquin, use about 6-8 )
1/2 onion
2 cloves Garlic
1/2 tsp cumin or Cilantro ( whichever or both)
1/2 tsp salt
Boil tomatos, onion, peppers until soft, then throw in blender with the garlic, cumin and salt
*salsa shouldnt be too thick, if it is add a little bit of the water you boiled the tomatos, onion & jalapenos in.
Hope this helps, Isa
Look for dried Chilies de Arbol (long and slender) or Japanese chilies also dried (These will make your salsa hotter) Boil them until they are soft about 30 minutes. with a little of the liquid blend the chilies. Oregano, salt added to taste. you can also use some boiled jalapenos onion and tomatoes and yes if you want to make it even hotter Habenero. The blender is the key. In the Mexican kitchens that I have been in; salsa is made like soup, not always the same,it is more about what is on hand. Have Fun with it.
Ingredients
1 14oz Can of diced tomatoes (no salt added)
1 10oz Can Rotel brand tomatoes & green chilies
1 clove Garlic (crushed with flat blade of knife)
Juice from 1 small to medium lemon
Boar's Head Jalapeno pepper sauce
Pinch sugar (optional)
Black pepper (to taste)
Preparation
Add tomatoes, Rotel contents, garlic, & lemon juice to food processor. Mix until all ingredients are blended.
Start with one tbls of the Boar's Head Jalapeno pepper sauce and add to taste.
