Do you prefer Italian or French food? Why?

Answer:
Italian!! I just got back last week from my trip to Italy and my friends and I were amazed that EVERYTHING we had was absolutely delicious!! :)
italian =] i <3 pizzas
Italian food.
I have no clue why though!
I adore both! Actually it was Catherine de Medici from Italy who had a huge influence on French cuisine. This is because when she married into French Royalty, she brought her whole retinue of Chefs and servants and taught the French many classic recipes which are cooked to this very day. She also taught them the use of the fork as a dining implement and cutlery item. Prior to that, the French only used a spoon and knife and fingers.
italian because their food is more rich and very filling.
French. Some of the finest recipes come from France. Some recipes the French invented were just pure genius. Chefs when they train or do an apprenticeship train with a lot of French influence.French terminology is also taught. Many many common methods of cooking and dishes have been taken on through out the world eg. Criossants, puff pastry, beurre blanc (cream sauce)Anglaise(custard)Pommes creme(creamy potato bake)Pommes Duchese(mashed potatoes, crumbed and fried) Profiteroles, crepes the list goes on and on.......
Italian... because of Tiramisu .... lol ... WAIT.... goose liver paste... that's French?

Still I have Italian food more often than French, I love the squid ink pasta (fresh homemade ones).
Italian, Yummy Pizza's.....
i prefer pizza and pasta to garlic and frogs legs! having said that i do like mulles in wine
Love Italian food. Found this little family run place in Pisa last year the food was all home cooked and we went there for all our meals, it was cheap and tasty and beats all the fancy French food places and all this michelin star crap.
French, more delicate and varied taste.
Italian food. Its easier to prepare, is heartier & its there are so many options! DELICIOUS! ;-)
french. they are the origin of the grande cuisine. you learn all the french methods in school as the basics. and most of the terms are from the french. they revolutionized (sp?) cooking techniques that are still used today. and restuarants began as a result of the french revolution. and the food is just dang delicious!!
Italian, I enjoy pasta. French food has too many heavy sauces on things that don't need sauce, like steak!
Italian food. My favorite kind. Awesome flavors and unpretentious unlike the French food. The diversity is amazing in Italian cooking.
in italy italian and in france french. you can find the best food in its original place.
Rather not choose. I adore both of them.
Italian baby ;)
Interestingly, French Haute Cuisine was developed from Italian medieval cooking.

It is also worth noting that both Italian and French cuises have regional styles that differ consideably from each other. The food of Normandy is very different to that of Avignon, as Tuscan is from that of Sicily.

For myself, I like Italian food in summer, and French in winter. Italian food is generally lighter in texture. In winter, a healthy ragout (stew) preceded by a mighty potage (soup) is just the job.

Don't be confused by the Haute Cuisine of France, or, for that matter, nouvelle cuisine - the sort of cheffie stuff cooked by Gordon Ramsay. French regional cooking is not difficult to prepare, but one MUST get ones ingredients from a butcher - French food needs meats that have been hung properly and fresh vegetables. To find out about French regional cookery, read cookbooks by Elizabeth David, and Larousse Gastronomique.

If you cook Italian, avoid jars of so-called sauce or ragu. These are an industrialised gloop full of chemicals. A good Bolognese sauce can be made with an onion, garlic, basil, oregano, a tin of decent tomatoes (Napolina, for example), salt, black pepper and finely chopped celery. It takes all of 10 minutes. Chefs to lok out for are Gino Della Campo. Antony Worral Thompson also does some interesting dishes that combine the finer aspects of French mediterranean cookinbg with that if Italy, Greece and North Africa.
I want to say Italian, but I have to say French because I was trained in French cuisine.
If equally well cooked they are, to me, equally delicious. However, Italian has the edge because, in my experience, food anywhere in Italy is nearly always very good if not great, whereas genuinely well cooked French cuisine can be hard to find and is expensive to boot, even in France. Similarly, if you're not in either country it is easier to rustle up Italian food by yourself than attempt the more tricky French food. So Italian has it in the penalty shoot-out on bonus points for availability.
Italian food with French company (can you imagine it the other way around.
both!
No comparison

ITALIAN-ALL THE WAY
ITALIAN of course!!
Pizza , spaghetti, tiramisù, icecream, salami, cheese parmigiano(parmesan), pesto, polenta, wine, olive oil...
