Oriental Shop - 1029 S. Park St. (251-7991)
Oriental Shop is the only store in Madison that has many Japanese products. They also sell Sashimi (raw fish) delivered from Chicago every two Saturdays. Their prices are relatively
higher than other stores, but they are more likely to take care of their products well.

Lee's Oriental - 3240 University Ave. (231-1593)
They also have many kinds of Japanese food, but mainly they sell Korean food. Thin-sliced beef (for Sukiyaki etc.) can be purchased here.

Oriental Food Market - S. Park St.
Most of food in this stores are Korean and Japanese. You can buy meat for Sukiyaki here. They also have Konnyaku noodles.

Asian Midway Foods - 301 S. Park St. (255-5864)
They have variety of Asian food including fresh vegetables, fish, and meat.

Yue-Wah Oriental Foods - 2328 S. Park St. (257-9338)
They carry various kinds of food including Mexican,
Indian food etc. There are abundant food on the shelves
in a large space. Relatively cheap.

Mitsuwa Plaza (former Yaohan Plaza) - 100 E. Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights, IL

A huge Japanese Supermarket. This store is about 10 min away
from O'Hare airport and it takes about 2 hours from Madison.
You can get most of Japanese products in this store including
shampoo, toiletry products , and Tsukemono (pickles) etc.
Everything is expensive, but it is reasonable since they have fresh vegetables, meat, and genuine Japanese products.

Woodman's West -(274-8944)
There are some Japanese food in Asian food isle, such as soy sauce, rice vinegar, Nori seaweed, carry sauce mix, instant miso soup etc.

Cost Plus World Market - (829-1020)
There are Nori seaweed, Wasabi powder, pickled ginger, sake, soy sauce, Tempura flower and snacks (Pocky, Arare - Osaka Mix, Tokyo Mix).

They also have utensils for Japanese cooking, such as bamboo mats, chopsticks, wooden rice pedals, Sake sets, rice bowls, Japanese style plates etc. The location is the end of a strip mall (next to Copy Max) that is across from West Towne Mall.

Kohl's, Whole Foods ( University Ave.), Sentry ( Hilldale Mall - 238-7612)

Don't know what that is. Explain please.
Natto is fermented soybeans, sometimes with raw egg. Japanese people love it, though I tried it in Asia and it didn't quite work out. The entire staff of the restaurant got a good laugh out of my reactions though :)
Just go to Japanese food shopThey sell it frozen mostly. I love it too, I can eat 3packs as snack. hohoho.
Give desi chef the 10 points!
