Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(OOGOLLY, How do you make it? How do you spell it?),it will help you,my kids.
My parents were in Kenya a few years ago and loved this food. I think it is kind of like cornmeal mush. Please send help! I'd like to make it for them, and do so as authentically as possible. Where's Cubcur when I need him?
Answer:
Well he's here, missus <g> but just 'cornmeal mush' and 'Kenya' is a bit thin to work with. :-)
Anything descriptive, fragments of a name (b*r the spelling <s>), fragments of remembered ingredients, of flavours that you could offer in a supplementary? Absolutely anything helps. Even if it seems a bit incoherent to you in offering it, it may ring a bell even so.
Where Kenya is concerned, Ugali is the foundation staple, in the same way you could call "mash" (i.e. mashed potato) a vernacular W.European staple, but in itself it's not that 'memorable'? You judge if this is what your parents may be referring to:
Ugali
------
1 cup cold water
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups boiling water
Serves 4 to 6
Put cold water in a medium-size saucepan, add cornmeal and salt, mixing continually. Bring to a boil over high heat, gradually stirring and slowly add 3 cups of boiling water to prevent lumps.
Reduce to simmer, cover and cook for about 8 minutes,
mixing frequently to prevent sticking.
The ugali will be done when it pulls from the sides of the pan easily and does not stick. It should look like stiff grits.
Ugali can also be made with millet as an alternative.
(We've crossed "in the post" -- I read your header as "Oh, Golly" -- showing my age!! <blush>) :-))
Ugali is what you want, I guess... :-)
was it polenta?
It may have been Cus Cus.
foo-foo or fu-fu
