Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies: 1 1/4c all-purpose flour 1/2tea baking powder 1/2tea salt 1/3c cocoa 1 1/4c sugar 1 egg well beaten 1/2c milk 1 1/2tea vanilla 1/3c shortening,melted 1/3c butter melted 2c oats...Sift flour, measure,and resift twice with baking powder, salt,cocoa,and sugar. Combine beaten egg, milk and vanilla, and add melted butter and shorting. Mix thoroughly with the sifted dry ingredients. Then stir in the rolled oats and drop by tea on buttered cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 cool on racks makes about 5 dozen.

1/2 cup Shortening
2/3 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 cup Raisins or Nuts
6 tablespoons Water (hot)

2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 cup Cocoa
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, stir into creamed shortening beaten eggs, raisins and 2 tablespoons of hot water. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Dissolve cocoa in 4 tablespoons of hot water and add last. Mix well.
Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet, place nut or raisin on top of each cookie. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
CHUNKY BROWNIE COOKIES
The Ingredients:
1 pkg Duncan Hines? Dark Fudge Chocolate Chunks Brownie Mix
1 large egg
2 TBSP water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Baking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375o F (gas mark 5). Grease cookie sheet.
Combine brownie mix, egg, water and oil in large bowl. Stir until blended and soft dough forms. Drop by level measuring tablespoons about 2-inches apart onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake in pre-heated oven for 7 to 8 minutes or until cookies are set in center. Do not overbake. Cool 1 minute before removing to cooling rack. Cool completely before serving.
Variation: Add one of the following to the dough before baking: 3/4 cup peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, vanilla chips or pecan pieces. If desired, frost cooked cookies with your favorite Duncan Hines? Creamy Home-Style Frosting.

2/3 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
About 48 pecan halves
Chocolate Glaze (recipe follows)
In large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. In separate bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Cover; refrigerate about 1 hour. Heat oven to 350°F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost set. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Frost with Chocolate Glaze; top each cookie with pecan half. About 4 dozen cookies.
Chocolate Glaze: In small saucepan, stir together 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils and sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; immediately add 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, stirring until melted. Cool to spreading consistency. About 1/2 cup glaze.
