Kitty said: Yes.Recipe for coleslaw made with bananas?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Recipe for coleslaw made with bananas?),it will help you,my kids.
My grandmother who passed away, used to make homemade coleslaw. I remember her making the dressing with mayo and milk, she grated cabbage, and don't remember what else she did. I also know there were bananas in it. Anyone else know of that type of recipe?
Answers:
She probably substituted bananas for sugar in her recipe. Try it.
Sugar wasn't always available and as cheap as it is today. Since mashed banana is very sweet, this was a logical kitchen experiment that worked. Could also be that as a kid, you wouldn't eat coleslaw an so she added your favorite food at the time to get you interested. Just a thought....
I also make salads with milk sometimes. You will need a little vinegar to make the milk sour and thicken. Let's see a little onion if you like is also good. I also like ground caraway seeds in my coleslaw and sometimes a carrot for color. Cabbage usually needs salt too. Bye now. :)
Other Answers:
Here ya go, give this a try:
Ingredients:
5 cups finely shredded cabbage
1 large banana, cut into 1/4 inch rounds
