Answer:
I have lived in Spain and they don't have salsa. It is Mexican food. Salsa de tomate on a Spanish menu is spaghetti sauce (marinara, italian). My husband is Venezuelan and he refers to italian style marinara sauce for pasta as "salsa de tomate" The salsa with chips is pretty specific to Mexico or Tex-mex cooking as far as I know.
How about serving it with a variety of foods: chips, noodles, raw vegetables or even rice!
tostitos chips. they are the best
Salsa is basically used as dipping for chips or as a sauce for tacos. They are being used to add flavor (or extra flavoring) to a basically blant food. Though some people try to use it as a pasta sauce but this is basically for tomato based salsas and does not generally speaks for every salsa sauces.
yES SHE IS CORRECT, SALSA IS A DIP IN MEXICO. IN OTHER SPANISH COUNTRIES IT SIMPLY MEANS TOMATO SAUCE
