Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days, anyone help us?
Kitty said: Yes.Someone mailed(!) me a bunch of tamales. They've been 2 days at room temp, are t-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Someone mailed(!) me a bunch of tamales. They've been 2 days at room temp, are t),it will help you,my kids.
They were mailed on Thursday, arrived at my house on Saturday and I put them in the refrigerator right away where they've been since. The sender is a sweet Mexican woman who's a great cook, she doesn't always think things through. But like I said, she's a great cook so if they're still good, I really want to eat them.
Answer:
I don't think is safe after been 2 days at room temperature. Specially if the tamales are made with any kind of meat. If they are sweet tamales have a better chance to not be spoiled. Sorry to say but, most probably you will be intoxicated if you eat them. Sometimes they don't smell bad but the bacteria is alredy present.
I will say don't take a chance!
How do they smell?. . good?. . If you eat them, heat them up thoroughly. .
If they were sealed tightly and fully cooked before she sent them I'd say go for it. So long as they smell okay.
Well I would say no. Unless they were frozen first & packaged w/ ice packs.. so maybe they spent most of the time cold
My old saying is "when in doubt, throw it out." Play it by nose:
If the package went straight into the fridge, and if the tamales are still in the husks and have been sealed in plastic wrap or foil, you have a good shot at having some tamales for dinner.
If, however, you open the package and it smelled as if something has died in it, or (perish the thought) the husks are infested, do yourself and the neighborhood a favor and get rid of it ASAP.
I always err on the side of caution when it comes to stuff shipped in. If it seems the least bit doubtful, I pitch it out.
On the same note - watch out for these people who sell tamales from the back of their trucks or station wagons. Even though they are legal here in certain parts of Texas, you don't know how safe that food is, or whether or not the cooks practiced sanitary methods. Just FYI.
I would not take the chance. Food is only supposed to be sitting out for 2 or 3 hours max.
Personally, I wouldnt eat them... you can smell them and make sure that they dont have the acid smell that tamales get when they turn bad.
Ask yourself this would any perishable food be any good after sitting for 2 days at room temp. or for that mater even one day. the rule is that if the food sits out in temps over 40 degrees step away..
My mom sends me Pan Dulce from Texas, but thats bread. And it packed real good & arrives the next day.Whats inside the Tamales? Pork/chicken, and why have you waited to eat them 2 days? How long were they on the road?? I dont think you should eat them, I wouldnt risk getting sick just to eat something, oh wait but were talking about tamales and you said she makes me Delicious right, yea I dont know, sorry!
