I've been using Lee Kum Kee sauces for over a decade but they used to be produced in english controlled hong kong and are now produced in china. Given china's lax enforcement of food safety and purity I'd like to find a source of sauces produced in the us or europe. Any suggestions?

I would probably go to a store such as whole foods. Although it may be slightly expensive, I know its organic, and they are very strict about what sell. It may be worth your while to check them out, and try a few sauces. If you are unsatisfied about anything, they are great about exchanges and returns.
I still use Lee Kum and there is nothing wrong with them. Don't forget food items which are brought to the US have to be regulated(also Europe). Unless you find a hair or a finger, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

and when you eat in a chinese resturaunt check their packets-if you need to not trusting China bring your own-the one bad kick has been in its substance found in pet food and toothpaste manufactured in China
I also recommend sharing what helped me-I get them in Chinese both dialects-if you would like this message and more in Chinese and also in English=what has drinking Vodka done for you-what did it use to do for me? you are a precious person -well you got good taste and are careful
why not get something better than what you have lived with-do we live to eat like I use to do or eat to live, or literally are dying with not just spiritually dead.
