Hawaiians use a lot of rice in their meals (they basically have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner).
One of the famous meals is loco moco (Wikipedia has a good article about it, also look in (http://www.royalelephant.com/hawaii/loca... and they love Kailua roasted pork.
Japanese culture also influence cuisine, so a lot of people eat sushi, sushimi, musubi, sea weed, saimin soups... Hawaiians love and cook a lot of fish (mahi-mahi, ahi (tuna), crab meat, shrimp, etc.)
In addition to these, try researching 'poi' and 'poke' (special way of marinating the fish), which are also quite popular.

Poi, an atrocious mix of ground taro root mixed with water. Sweet potatoes, Luau pork-mashed up. Lomi-lomi salmon. Anything Japanese or Korean with a local twist. Lots of Spam. Spam with everything! It seems very fattening. Great salts...including black salt, but Hawaiians' like their food fairly sweet. See if you like it.

I had a McDonald's breakfast meal on Maui that was white rice and fried Spam
on my visit to Hawaii, i went into a 7-11. and you know how usually theres a rotisserie machine with hot dogs on them? well instead they had seaweed wrapped spam. just grap and go! another thing they had that i found weird but very tasty, was there snow cones(flavored any way you like) with vanilla ice cream underneath, THEN under that was sweet red kidney beans! tasty though!
