I'm making sushi tonite and i bought:
white rice
nori
avacado
carrots
crab
shrimp
cream cheese
wasabi
What else can i add to "kick it up a notch"?
Answer:
geez once you have even the smallest amount of wasabi, I think it is impossible to make it any spicer or hotter LOL.

And for the one you are making:
California sushi rolls. Cut 10 oz (300g) of crab (or surimi) into thin strips and mix with 2 tablespoons of Japanese or regular mayonnaise. Peel an avocado and cut the flesh into strips. Peel and remove the seeds from half a small-sized cucumber and cut the flesh into thin strips. Smear a small amount of wasabi in a horizontal line across the middle of each rice-topped nori sheet and arrange equal amounts of crab, cucumber and avocado on top. Roll the sushi up and cut into 1?-inch rounds to serve. As a variation, replace the crab with cooked shrimp.
get some pickled ginger slices, soy sauce obviously, sweet chilli sauce for the ones who aren't tough enough for wasabi.
Well first of all I hope you bought sushi rice and not just plain white rice. The rice is the key to any sushi. You may add a little cayenne pepper to the crab, and rub some wasabi into the roll itself. This will kick it up. If you need a simple recipe for sushi rice its as follows
3 cups rice
3 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
1 tsp salt
2TBS sugar
rinse the rice for about 15-20 minutes under running water or until the water runs clear
put it in a rice cooker with the measured water
when the light goes off set a timer for 20 min
while this is happening put the vinegar salt and sugar in a sauce pan heat until the sugar and salt are dissolved
after 20 min put rice in a large bowl drizzle the liquid over it
you must cool the rice as quickly as possible so as you're folding it you must fan it as well. I use a magazine. once the rice is cooled then you can begin to make your rolls. I'm assuming that you have a bamboo mat.
it really all depends on the amount of wasabi you use. I've made some nigiri with peppers as well....in my opinion, anaheims go well with salmon and tuna.
You really need to get some Japanese Mayonnaise (Kewpie) and some Sriracha. Mix the mayo and spice it up with Sriracha to your taste. Add orange masago for texture and flavor.
That is the typical Japanese "Dynamite" sauce.
