Answer:
Hi! Indian chai which is made with equal parts milk and water, sugar added as a matter of course, is flavored with either a few
slices of fresh ginger or a couple of green cardamom pods.
For a fancier version, made wtih hot milk only and sugar, use
a cinnamon stick, 3 or 4 cloves, and 2 or 3 green cardamom
pods. It is called "Doodh Chai. It is also sensational!
There are other versions ... used as cold remedies, containing
whole black peppercorns, etc..... check out Madhur Jaffrey,
the Indian cookbook author who lives in UK and has written
several nice cookbooks ... also, there are Internet connections
you could make. Just type in "NDTV" and you will get a website
for the New Delhi Television station which lists as part of its
masthead a section of recipes which is quite large and full
of information.
"chai tea" is redundant as the word "chai" means tea
any variation of spices can be used .. the traditional are cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.
