i have a feeling they are fish eggs....are they?

Answer:
They are smelt eggs. Delicious on California Rolls!
I've never seen orange beads on california rolls.
Yes they are. A type of caviar.
Yes, caviar.
For more details, look at picture and following information:

Yep - fish eggs...otherwise known as caviar, and considered a delicacy by most. The orange ones are usually salmon roe. Must say I've never seen them on California rolls, but on plenty of other types of sushi.
Roe.
Must be different California rolls than I get. The orange beady things on mine are some form of sesame seed.
Fish eggs... most people don't realize that and they actually will like it... then realize it is fish eggs then they don't like it. Strange how people think.
Mmmm...caviar.
I looked at everyones answers before answering myself because while most of them were good there was none that were complete.

Yes they are fish eggs (caviar). They aren't the type of caviar thats popular by itself because its not near being the tastiest.

Its actually called Flying Fish Roe (Flying Fish is the fish species it comes from)

It's inexpensive as caviar goes. It has great color to make the California Roll look prettier and it adds some nice texture to the roll.
They are called flying fish roe, it is a type of fish egg or caviar
and if they are fish eggs they shouldnt be raw..........california roll is the only original sushi that was not raw because americans dont like eating raw foods................ or something like that
Yes they are a type of fish roe (eggs). They really don't have a flavor though.
Could be shrimp eggs or fish roe.. depends on the size..
yeah buddy
Caviar.
Yes, they are a type of mildly spicy fish roe called "masago". Another spicier cod roe is called "mentaiko" and makes for a mean Japanese style spaghetti. The salmon fish egg sushi, one of my favorites, is called "ikura".
Yes they are fish eggs, they could be salmon, or some other fishes eggs.
They should be some kind of fish eggs. The cheap kind normally taste very fishy.
someone once told me that they are salmon fish eggs. and i love eating the sushi with just these caviar on it (ikura)...yum~
