Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(What are typical foods in Montreal?),it will help you,my kids.
I`m brazilian and I`d like to know more about typical foods in Montreal.
Answer:
Montreal is pretty cosmopolitan, especially when it comes to food. I can think of one or two good Brazilian restaurants in fact. As for what is "typical", Montreal seems known for it's "smoked meat" sandwiches (slow cooked brisket with mustard on rye bread) available just about everywhere downtown, the most famous place being "Schwartz's" on Saint Laurent Street (though they don't really deserve the reputation anymore, their sandwhiches are small and overpirced). Also there are bagels from places like Saint Viateur bagels near Saint Laurent and Saint Viateur streets.
You'll get a good idea of what kind of cuisine is availbe in Montreal if you walk up saint Laurent street, starting from De La Commune in the old port of Motnreal and ending at Cremazie... I think that is about three miles of restaurants and bars and clubs... Saint Denis street running parralel one street is over is almost as full. The best part of Saint Laurtent is from about, oh Saint Catherine street up to about Saint Viateur street. Try looking on Goolge Maps! Hope that helps. Were you looking for anything specific?
What Montréal is known for, other than it's smoked meat (which is like New York pastrami but better!) is its bagels. And then there is the Québecois artery-clogging fast food called poutine, which is frites and cheese curds covered in brown beef gravy.
Otherwise, Montréal is full of immigrants so we have restaurant styles from all over the world but at home most heritage Quebeckers, like most Canadians, will eat pretty much like Americans except we eat less chicken and more pork. Also, in both our "French" restaurants and our supermarkets you are more likely to find more game meats (bison, elk, wild boar, quail, etc) than you will see in the USA and we (some of us, at least) also eat horse, which Americans never eat.
In Québec also are located almost 80% of Canada's specialty artisan cheesemakers so the selections are much larger here than elsewhere in North America. Most of the world's maple syrup is also harvested here.
