Kitty said: Yes.What can I use in place of a sifter? I do not have one.?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(What can I use in place of a sifter? I do not have one.?),it will help you,my kids.
Answer:
You can give the ingredients a spin in a food processor. It aerates and mixes the ingredients just as well (if not better) than a sifter.
Use a strainer with wire mesh. Tap the strainer to sift the flour (or whatever) through it.
Try a spaghetti strainer or if you have a splatter screen also before I had one we would aireate the flour just with a fork that's the only reason it has to be sifted. just put some flour in a bowl and pretend like you are beating eggs.
My husband was a fine dining chef taught me a few tricks of the trade.
EDIT:
Aubrey is right! Now that I seen that I remember that is how Alton Brown prefers to aireate his flour. Aubrey deserves the best answer on this one.
I just use something like a sieve or tea strainer, anything with a fine mesh. My sifter is totally shot.
If you have a colandar that will work, but the holes are a bit bigger.
Just use a wire whisk if it's flour. All you need to do is stir it around a bit with the whisk to aeriate it.
