Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(What dessert would go well with a spicy chili dinner?),it will help you,my kids.
I am planning on cooking a spicy turkey chili for dinner and would like to also serve a nice dessert afterwards for my hubby since hes having a tough week at work. I was going to just make brownies but hoped someone could suggest something that went better with the chili.
Answer:
Since the chili has a strong flavor i recommend a dessert that will also leave a strong but pleasing taste in the mouth. Seems to me you want to be kind to him but as well romantic to relax him and making him feel better after a tough week. Maybe crepes filled with strawberries and topped with chocolate syrup and powder sugar would be a good idea.
Do you know what crepes are? They are like pancakes but much more thinner(like a flour tortilla), see the link below for a recipe. Buy some strawberries, dice them and sprinkle some sugar and lemon juice. Taste the strawberries, they should taste between sweet and acid, choose the taste you prefer. Let the strawberry, sugar and lemon juice set for about 30 minutes.
When you have prepared the crepes, grab one a place the strawberry filling inside, roll and cover with "strings" of chocolate syrup (hershey one is perfect!) then sprinkle with powdered sugar using a flower shifter so the sugar can look like snow! Hope this works! Be sure to buy a great wine, dry red wine or sweet rose works.... be sure to add candles and have a great romantic dinner!!
Ice cream: vanilla. The spicy (hot) chili needs a cold contrast. Plus, the mellow vanilla will "soothe" the spicy burn
Cheesecake. It will help calm down the hot spices after dinner.
something cool, like a fruit compote, or jello something, to cool the spices of the chili.
Definately SHERBERT! Or a thick slushy! You can even hop over to 7-11 and pick some up if you don't want to make it! :)
You can't go wrong with cheesecake.
Pineapple sorbet. Very refreshing. Serve it with some fresh mint leaves.
Orange Sherbet is one of the best things. It soothes the pallette, and also cleanses it -- killing off the spiciness that remains in the mouth. It also goes well with brownies, and is a little more imaginative than vanilla.
Ice cream !!!!!!
I think Thai iced teas with condensed milk are awesome. They aren't really dessert but they are sweet and very refreshing after something spicy or while you're eating something spicy. Also, they are very simple to make. You just need to find simple black tea(preferably an asian variety, if you have a local asian supermarket, just ask) and boil it in a kettle or pot then filter it. Store it in a jug or container. Chill it and when you serve, just add condensed milk. Beware though, they are highly addictive and not for the calorie counter. Have fun!
Something sweet is a great idea. Go with cheesecake. Then you can top it with the flavor of your choice.
I always serve ice cream if the meal is hot or spicy. It cools.
A coke float or root beer float made with vanilla ice cream topped with some whipped cream.
Make an Ice Cream Pie, simply by melting some ice cream slightly and putting it in a graham pie shell with different layers such as : nuts, chocolate syrup, caramel, peanut butter, coconut, mint chips, crushed peppermint candies....etc... the ideas are endless !!
Ice cream after Chili is fabulous to cool down the taste buds.
Depends on how spicy? Ice cream with Cheese cake followed by a tums chaser! :)
Cheesecake
Vanilla Ice Cream
Pineaple Sorbet
fresh fruit/yogurt parfait
lusious lemon bars
anything light/cool/soothing
Flan..
Something sweet and light like Flan.
i suggest ice cream :)
chocolate cake - depends on the type (dont have those with rum or alcohol inside)
cheesecake
and of course ice cream - thats the most safest
Just serve Jalapeno Corn Bread with the chili and he won't have any space left for dessert. An iced drink (tea, chai or beer).
Jalapeno Corn Bread
5 tablespoons butter
2 jalapeno chiles, minced
2 ears corn or 1 cup corn kernels
1 small red onion minced
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup cornmeal
2 ounces Cheddar cheese, grated (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Using 1 tablespoon of the butter, grease an 8" square pan, or line pan with baking parchment. Trim stems from chiles and discard. Slice kernels from ears of corn. In a 2-quart mixing bowl, combine chiles, corn, and onion. In a small bowl, combine milk, eggs, and remaining butter, then add to the chile-onion-corn mixture.
2. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir in cornmeal. Gradually stir flour mixture and Cheddar cheese (if used) into the chile-corn-milk mixture until just combined and slightly lumpy. Do not stir until smooth or corn bread will be tough. Place mixture into prepared pan. Bake until top is golden brown and a skewer inserted about 2" from the edge come out dry (35 - 40 minutes). Cut into squares to serve.
My suggestion would be flan... delicate and cooling. It would go well with the chili just lik it goes well with many spicy latin american dishes.
mango "lassi" /any fruit of your choice. Something sweet, something sour, something to help the digestion & something to coold off the "chili", cheers ! :)
Cheesecake - goes with almost everything.
I would go for cake ice cream or ice cream fruit salad to ease the chili source flavor.
Caramel flan!
fried fruit salad with vanilla ice cream
take some fruits like apple ,pineapple, bananas, cut them into dices, then heat a pan with oil.put some sugar and melt it till it becomes brown and turns to a cream, then add above frruits, toss them for some time and add few ml of brandy before u serve, and serve with a scoup of vanilla ice cream.ur husband will give u the best night ever.trust me.

To go with spicy it is good to have something milky to balance it out. Try Kheer, (rice pudding), or gulab jamun (deep fried milk balls in syrup) Both Indian and oh so good! There's a lot of good spicy food in India so this is tried and true!
