i buy some rice from store which labled as cooked rice. is it similer to "ukda tandul"? can i use it for idli -dosa? or for any other south indian dish?
Answer:
wow that must have preservatives galore.
It is same as normal rice u can us for south Indian dishes
Good Luck!!
we usually make south indian dishes with rice called par boiled rice or boiled rice where the paddy is boiled in a vat and dried before removig its shell or outer cover, but as my knowledge goes cooked rice seems to be some sort of instant preperation item that come in markets which can be eaten with a slight boil like say instant noodles.
it is tht boiled rice vich is den steamed.
if its the half boiled one...u can as usual use 4 all the south indian steamy dishes...only thing is that u look into the ingredients of pack once...bcoz some cooked rice packs have rice cooked in the presence of salt...so mind using the amount of salt...
its called "parboilled rice",there is just a manufacture's name change.nothing else.
