Answer:
Sauce, as someone noted earlier, is of a less thick consistency. Though the main ingredient is tomato, there could be several other ingredients: basil, onions, celery, carrot, and other vegetables. It could contain several spices as well.

Ketchup, on the other hand is just a thick concoction made of tomatoes. It could vary in the spice content, but usually there is nothing else in it but tomatoes.

You always say, sauce over my pasta, never ketchup on my pasta =)
Ketchup has sugar, spices and is a reduced mixture while sauce has less spice and is not nearly reduced and is a more "runny" consitency. I would not use sauce on my chips or fries.
Catsup is a tomato based product. Sauce can be made from, cream, chicken or beef stock, etc.
sause is mainly the extract of the main. like tomato, soya etc;

ketch up is mixture of spices with main base. it is more or less like chutny.
isn't it both tomato sauce?
sauce is used in preaperation of food in the kitchen as it is a mother sauce whereas ketchup is used in table as an accompoynment for dishes
There is no difference between the product. just the Americans say ketchup and the british say tomato sauce
