Pace brand salsa sells both Chunky and Picante type salsas in four flavors of each. Looking at and in the bottles of each there appears to be no difference between the two. They both have large amounts of chunked and cut peppers, as well as red saucy salsa. Both are the same degree of temperature/spicyness.
Answer:
I was wondering the same thing, as I love salsa, but they only sell the "big" bottles of picante. I go through the smaller faster.
As always, Wikipedia comes to help.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/picante_sau...
Near the bottom, theres a description of what Picante is...
"Picante sauce is a term coined by condiment maker David Pace for his own version of salsa. Picante sauce is usually a little more pureed than salsa. Picante is a Spanish adjective that derives from picar, which means "to sting", referring to the feeling caused by salsas on one's tongue."
Chunky Salsa has big chunks of vegtables and onions in it. The only main difference in both is that Picante is meant to be hotter. Picante actually means spicy.
