Is it the same thing? LOL
Answer:
I'm from Uk, so here's my definition.
Mousse is a very light and airy "pudding". It may be based on eggs or gelatine that have been whisked before setting. (For texture, think of a jello that has been whisked wlie it is on the point of setting)
Choc mousse contains melted choc and eggs, with optional rum, cream.
In modern times a pudding is likely to be a cake mixture put into a greased pyrex bowl, covered with foil tied on tightly (I use rubber band) and boiled in a water bath till cooked. Jam or syrup may be put in with it.
Suet pudding is a similar thng only instead of cake mixture, suet pastry (made from beef fat) surrounds the contents of fruit or meat.
the latter is an example of a savoury pudding.
Puddings have been a stregth of English cuisine for at least 200- 250 years.
Mousse is much lighter and fluffier, lots more air in it.
Nope, two different things.
Pudding is made with cornstarch, milk, flavoring, and is cooked on the stove, or you can buy instant. It is thick and creamy.
Mousse, is very light in texture. It uses whipped cream and some other ingredients depending on the flavor. The various ingredients are folded together so the mousse stays light and fluffy.
PUDDING is custard in texture & MOUSSE is beaten up to a frotthy & foamy texture. If u like eating "air" then MOUSSE is okay ,,,,again there are some really TRUE & WELL MADE MOUSSE that is very nice dessert.
Pudding is a thick, soft dessert, typically containing flour or some other thickener, milk, eggs, a flavoring, and sweetener.
Mousse is a sweetened dessert with whipped cream as a base, often stabilized with gelatin and chilled in a mold.
