i'm not really a fan of eather but i am curious
Answer:
If it's only a question of curiosity ,just the basics will do.Tandoori dishes are characterized by two essential steps, first is the traditional marinade, basically beaten yogurt & a mixture of spices, any meat or fish can be done in this style, after marinating the meat is threaded through a metal skewer & cooked in a clay oven with an open mouth through wich the skewers are put in and removed, turning to prevent burning & basting with marinade or oil is also essential.Curries are a simple affair, everyday cooking in an Indian home, mostly stove top.
Tandoori is a method of cooking using yogurt and curry and curry is a spice.
Tandoori is cooked in an oven (tandoori) at high heat -- 450F -- while curries are cooked in a 'stew'. A little too simple but that's about it. At home curries are fairly easy, just pull out a pot and go to it. You can do a tandoori at home (approximately) -- marinade your lamb, chicken, etc. then pop it under your broiler with all the heat you've got -- a grill might be better, but I don't have any experience there.
a tandoor is a clay oven used in very high heat grilling.
tandoori chicken is a classic dish made with marinating the chicken in yogurt with spices. It's essentially Indian bbq.
Curry is a like a stew, there are hundreds of possible varieties
characterized by what spices/ingredients are used (vindaloo, tikka, coconut, dopiaza...)
Briefly, a "tandoor" is a clay oven in which you bake the breads and meat etc on skewers; while a curry is a thick or thin broth made with spices and curry leaves usually cooked in a saucepan or pot!
Incidentally, you can tone down the spices and use their marinades like lime, for example and it can be rather delicious!
Tandoori is spicy and dry while curry is usually wet and come in spicy sauce
