Answer:
North Indian (Punjabi style) cuisine is based on onions (lots & lots) fried with ginger, garlic & tomatoes. This is the basis of their cuisine, all Punjabi dishes start with onions/ginger/garlic. They also eat more flatbreads (rotis, parathas, phulkas,,,) on a daily basis & less rice.
North Indian food also uses alot of dried fruits & nuts (has more arabic & persian influences). They also eat more lamb, mutton....

South Indian cuisine uses coconut, peanuts, daals, lentils & alot of rice. They eat dosas, idlis, uttapams, lemon rice, tomato rice, tamarind rice, lots of yogurt...

They cuisine is based on the local products available in that area. South Indian has a large coast with lots of coconuts, so coconuts became as essential part of the cuisine of this region. In North India, coconuts were not readily available so were no a large part of the cuisine.

The spiciest of all Indian food tends to be from the state of Andhra (it's crazy hot), which is in South Indian.

South Indian food is prominently more veg but they do eat chicken & lots of seafood.
The southern cuisine is a little spicier and hotter than northern.
north indian food is what you'd find in most indian restaurants .. lots of tomato based and even cream enhanced sauces. The cuisine is largely influenced by the moghuls (from the middle east who invaded india hundreds of years ago) Lots of warm spices like ginger, cinnamon, cardamon, clove, etc are used

South indian food is generally tumeric, cumin, mustard seed, chili based dishes.
