im going to indonesia tomorrow and im wondering what kinds of foods do they usually eat? im not very picky when it comes to food as long as its not raw fish ~ewwwww~ but since im 5 months pregnant there are some things that i just cant stomach any more. do they eat alot of rice and curry? or more bread and meats?

Answer:
it depends on what island you go too. generally, if it is a tourist destination, you will find a variety of local and international foods.
As you are pregnant, i would recommend staying away from fresh salads. also i wouldn't eat Cockles or other shelled fish because they might contain HepB. and finally, being pregant you may want to make sure that all food is compeletely cooked.

ok, to the good stuff:

a typical dish is "nasi ". which means rice (nasi) . this usually comes with a choice of type of curry "ayam" (chicken), mutton, or "dendeng" (beef).

As it is a mostly muslim nation, many places won't have "babi" (pork) or alchohol on the menu. Although, there are some great foods with babi. You may like Babi Ketjap. pork with a sweet soy sauce and ginger etc... not too spicy

for the best treat, but not too spicy, try a variety of Satay. Grilled meat usuallly ayam or mutton served with peanut sauce. and i've read that different islands have different variations.

my favorite is grilled "sotong" (squid). when done well it is tasty and tender.
U can ask for plain rice if u want but now a days many continental restaurants are their u can get ur food of choice
OMG! I like totally love caviar!! duhh
