Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(What is this Indian food?),it will help you,my kids.
A couple years ago I had an Indian cake-like treat. It tasted *exactly* like angel food cake but with a sour flavor like dill added and it had a yellow/green color. I have pretty much eliminated dhokla as a possibility -- it is far sweeter than that. It was served plain as finger food. Any guesses?
Answer:
I answered a question like this the other day, it is a steamed cake made with a dal flour, is a traditional type of cake, anyone of the websites that fall under the Indian Sweets catagorie will help you with a recipe, here is one I found

Did you try khaman and see whether it was the same item you had? In case you're wondering, khaman and dhokla are very different from eachother. Khaman is sweeter than dhokla.
Do you know what part of India was this food from? What language do these folks speak who treated you with this food? That might help us figure out the item name.
I think it must have been a type of "burfi" (milk cake)
with coloring added.
