I don't think I've ever seen an Argentinian restaurant, so I was wondering if they have a cuisine of their own.

Answer:
Yes, if you're a carnivore. Argentina is renowned for its beef, and some restaurants barbecued meat is all that the menu is centred around. Lamb, goat and chicken also feature on barbecue menus, but Argentinian steak is legendary. Many dishes come as slabs of meat only, and side dishes like salad, vegetables or chips are extra.

Empanadas are pastries stuffed with meat, egg, olives and vegetables, they're a quick and tasty snack and go well with a beer.

Argentinians love dulche de leche which is like caramelised condensed milk. This is spread on toast, found inside pastries and is even a flavour of ice cream.

The ice cream in Argentina is insanely good and ice cream parlours can be found everywhere.

If you need something to wash this all down with, Argentinian malbec is just the ticket.
I've been to an Argentinian restaurant in California that is basically all you can eat BBQ.

Each place setting comes with a card that says Si on one side and No on the other.

If you are hungry, leave the Si side up. Waiters come out of the kitchen every few minutes with fresh grilled meat on skewers. They will serve everyone with a Si. When you're full, you flip the card to No.
Most Argentinians eat four meals each day. The diet may differ in different regions. Desayuno (breakfast) is a light meal of rolls and jam with coffee. For almuerzo (lunch), many Argentinians eat meat and vegetables or salads. After work but before dinner, people go to confiterías (cafés) to drink espresso and eat picadas, small dishes of cheese, mussels, salami, anchovies, olives and peanuts. Cena (dinner) in the evening is the largest meal of the day and almost always includes beef.
Yerba mate is a popular traditional drink, similar to tea.

Quality beef, Mate
Most argentinian food is based on beef, excellent beef, with some vegetables too. Also, argentinian food has influences from Italian food so pasta is not uncommon
Empanadas, like someone described above.
Beef, which they call "asado" cooked in a bbq... usually with vegetables.
For desserts, alfajores is a must!
