What would you suggest? i would love to try some real japanese cuisine but do not wanna end up with expensive food i cannot eat. what do you like the most?
Answer:
Tempura is wonderful...as are the hibachi meals - usually a choice of beef, shrimp, scallops or chicken.
If you feel like you want to try the raw, nigiri sushi, I recommend the salmon or tuna - they are both very mild. This is ordered per piece, so you can literally just order 1, if you want to.
Also try some sushi rolls - they usually come in an order of 6 or so, so split an order with the person you go with...California rolls have no raw fish - they are cooked crab, avocado and cucumber. Or if you want to try something with raw fish in it, but aren't brave enough yet to do nigiri sushi, try some in a roll. If you like a litlle kick, try spicy tuna rolls.they have raw tuna in them so at least you can say you tried it!
The nigiri sushi and the rolls will come with green wasabi on the side, which I am sure you have heard is very hot...so be cautious with your first attempt!! Otherwise you may not be able to taste the rest of your dinner! lol!
And don't be afraid to ask questions...they will be happy to help you explore their menu, and explain things to you! Have fun with it!
How about a cheeseburger and fries
tempura - it's classic Japanese batter-dipped, deep fried seafood and vegetables. not as intimidating as sushi or sashimi if you're squeamish about raw fish.
i like the hibachi steak or chicken. has a nice taste to it. also i like the veggie sushis mmmmm so good!
Yakitori is good, my all time favorite is Tonkatsu. Tonkatsu usually is pork or chicken breaded with Panko bread crumbs and served with a dipping sauce. It is delicious and usually reasonably priced.
hibachi steak or chicken it is really good.
tamago sushi. or tempura.
Katsudon (tonkatsu over rice)
Tempura
Yakisoba - fried noodles with vegetables and sometimes meat
Gyoza (potstickers) - you can make a meal of these with some rice
Okonomiyaki - sort of a vegetable and meat pancake, sometimes with yakisoba
Yakitore , sushi, tempura and saki
If you like noooooodles like I do, try udon or soba.
Udon (Hiragana: うどん; Kanji: 烏龍) is a type of thick wheat-based noodle popular in Japanese cuisine.
Udon is usually served hot as noodle soup in a mildly flavored broth, in its simplest form as kake udon, served in kakejiru made of dashi, Japanese soy sauce (shōyu), and mirin. It is usually topped with thinly chopped scallions. Other common toppings include tempura, often shrimp or kakiage (a type of mixed tempura fritter), or abura age, a type of deep-fried tofu pockets seasoned with sugar, mirin, and soy sauce. A thin slice of kamaboko, a halfmoon-shaped fish cake, is often added. Shichimi and beni shoga can be added to taste.
Soba (蕎麦, Soba?) is a type of thin Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour. It is served either chilled with a dipping sauce, or in hot broth as a noodle soup. Moreover, it is not uncommon in Japan to refer to any thin noodle as soba in contrast to udon which are thick noodles made from wheat.
And ramen. but udon or soba, I like better :)!
Mmmm. If only restaurants served takoyaki (octopus balls, yummy). Or okonomiyaki!
You might want to try Tonkatsu and/or Chickenkatsu if you like deep fried food.
Tonkatsu is deepfried breaded portk and Chickenkatsu is deepfried breaded chicken. They are cooked in the same way. Pork chops and chicken breasts are lightly floured and dipped into eggs and breaded with Panko and deepfried. And they are usually accompanied with shredded cabbage and tomato wedges. And you can use lemon juice or lemon juice with dark sauce( Tonkatsu sauce) like the sauce in the picture below or just the dark sauce for the deepfried breaded meat :

In Japan, Tonkatsu and Chickenkatsu are very popular and many Japanese people including me love them. And I do believe that many Americans who love deep fried food love them, too.
try miso soup. mmm mmm mmm
