Answer:
We keep ours in a tin with an airtight lid in the cupboard under the sink. As it's so humid here in the summer, we keep one of these small disposable dehumidifiers in the tin.
I've never come across anyone keeping it in the freezer. Sacrilegious.
In an air tight container
whats wrong with in a packet in a cupboard?
in a tuperware bowl,a pasta jar something sealed.
in a dry place, pref a cupboard
if its in the pack in a cupboard or if you mean out of the pack in a container with a lid
Rice should be stored in tightly secured containers in cool place (dark cupboard etc). This prevents moisture and insect infestation.
If you buy rice in bulk, freeze it for three days to kill any weevil or insect eggs. Transfer the contents into tightly secured jars, and store in cool place.
Brown rice is very different than the white rice from storage point of view. Brown rice has oils that can quickly become rancid as they are oxidized. Preferably brown rice should be stored in the refrigerator.
Container or jar. airtight would be better
I just keep mine in a glass jar. Same with pasta.
I keep mine in a glass jar with a screw-top lid. Anything airtight will do.
In a ziplock bag or even a tuperware container
In the White House of course.
In an airtight container. Probably a see-through one so you don't have to kep taking the lid off to see what's inside. Maybe you could store it with a bay leaf to stop greeblies in there.
in a cupboard maybe?
In the space between your ears.
I keep mine in the freezer. It stays very fresh this way. There's never an issue of too much moisture if you keep it in something air tight. It seems to cook perfectly every time too.
In an airtight container or large plastic bag, and then in the freezer.
fridge
A 5lb bag will fit nicely in a rubber-maid 10 cup container
In a container with a blue lid on the 3rd shelf of my pantry...

You did ask 'where would i store rice.?'
in the bag it came in as i use basmati rice so it come in a brown sake with a zipper and i store it in a cool place like the shelf i have in my garage
In a sealed plastic container and in the dark. I always buy rice in bulk and have never had problems - even in the humid conditions in summer in Hong Kong.
Air tight and away from heat
anywhere dry.
Uncooked rice should be store in a dry and enclosed container or bag so moisture or other unwanted objects cannot get to it. Cooked rice can be stored in air tight container inside the fridge for up to a week or so. When you want to eat it again, you can sprinkle a little water on it before you microwave it and it will become soft and yummy again.
I would never buy big sacks of rice as they can contain cockroach eggs. I had someone living with me who used to buy the big sacks of rice and a few weeks after they left, i saw a cockroach in the kitchen. I called the council out and they told me that was the reason, the eggs can be in the large sacks of rice, i only had the one, i will never have big bags of rice in the house ever again, thats the most common reason apparently.
