Answer:
Both are pretty mild, I use the small thai bird chilies for everyday cooking.
I think its jalapeno.
about the same, but try a habanero - it is super hot
jalapeno try to find a hobenyro it is even hotter
although the serrano chile is spicier then the jalapeno pepper since most people have not tasted the sserrano chile they think the jalapeno is hotter
Serranos are definitely hotter when you buy them from the store. However, if you grow your own jalapenos, you can pick them and then store them. The acid inside will build up and the peppers will turn red. Red jalapenos are definitely hotter than serranos. But, habaneros are generally regarded as the hottest widely-available pepper.
The jalape?o rates between 2,500 and 10,000 Scoville units in heat.
Most Serrano rate between 10,000 and 20,000 Scoville units.
Soooo, at least according to Scoville, Serranos are hotter. But remember that chiles vary in each individual case. And also remember most of the substance that gives them their "punch" is in the seeds and veins. Careful with handling them, don't touch your eyes or mouth without washing very well.
I like serrano the best. The flavor and the texture is so much better than jalapeno, plus it's much hotter too.
Serrano for sure! Them chiles are spicy all right.
serranos are hotter;dont let the size fool you.
Definitely serrano. Jalape?o seems hot to people who have never tasted anything else, so their basis for comparison is quite limited.
Serrano's are hotter and i always use them...especially in a fresh salsa or pico de gallo!
I thought I heard that the smaller the chile the hotter it is. .
I have had some really hot jalepenos and I have had some really hot serranos...In general, I do think serrano's are hotter.
