Very popular in El Salvador and Honduras but originated in El Salvador. They love pupusas so much that the country has declared Nov. 13th %26quot;National Pupusa Day%26quot;.
The why of it is probably because it was a basic staple and cheap as well and I guess it just became popular. I love the ones with beans and cheese. The tortillas are somewhat like a Mexican gordita.
