Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why are all Chinese buffets gross??),it will help you,my kids.
I love Chinese food and I love buffets but when I go to a Chinese buffet, I always think maybe it gonna be good this time...and it never is? Plus the last one I was at, they took a pick-up order of Wonton Soup out of the buffet!! GROSSS!!!
Answer:
Each Chinese buffets are made to work with the growing market of fast service. Some foods like Chinese, Japanese, and even Italian foods are meant to be cooked to order and marinated in there juices as they cook. Most oriental dishes are meant to be served hot so the flavor of the spices can be enjoyed. My advice, take the time and go to a sit down, order off the menu Chinese restaurant and enjoy the pleasure of a well cooked meal. (Heat lamps are not a substitute for a wok or a grill.)
Too long out in the air. Too many germs. Too much cutting of costs and skimping on the ingredients.
Do you live in a big city? If not, just imagine how nappy a small town Chinese Buffet might get. I think I'll stick to the red jello, and pseudo-sticky rice.
Personally I think it's allright, not the best but I still enjoy Chinese buffets, although I know people who really are grossed out by it.
It's not really "ethnic", if you know what I mean. People in China don't eat that stuff. A lot of it is just meat with some gooey sauce that solidifies after you leave it out for a while. Then you have a bunch of random fried foods, fried rice (that's not actually fried), noodles, and spring rolls.
The eggdrop soup can be good in some restaurants, but too frequently it is repulsive.
Well, not really all of them.
Yeah, a lot of them are very gross, but you gotta factor in how cheap is it. The one next to my work when I was in Miami charge only $5.99. Nobody monitors the buffet. The kind of customers who goes there are not as responsible and they leave the food pretty nasty.
The ones operated by the Manadarin chain in Canada are all very nice. The workers constantly clean up after those sloppy customers. They dump the food when it's been out for too long. Well, they charge $27.99.
The truth is that Chinese don't like to go to those buffets. We thought you guys like it that way. If you keep going, the market keeps growing and they will just keep being gross. If you really dislike them, you should not go anymore.
its massed produced food that gets left out until its gone. Also any food fried or oily gets gross real fast.
Oh bTW...its a buffet. You arent paying for quality/...
Chinese buffet? Gross! I did not even know that this exists (but then I live in some hinterlands in Borneo...). Chinese food is excellent but must be enjoyed fresh as in the above posts suggested...
Not all Chinese buffets are bad. If you go to a more fancy buffet and pay more, maybe it'll taste better. It's not to your taste because you probably go to a cheap place. What you pay is what you get.
I know exactly what you mean. From what I have seen, the food prepared in the buffets is cooked entirely differently.
My sister insists that the buffets are better but I don't like the food they have and I much prefer family style or plated dinners in that case.
I wonder where it is you live.
I live in the Twin Cities Minnesota and the two Chinese restaurants who specialize in lunch buffets are really good! So, maybe it's just your area.
Well, most buffets are gross then. Not just Chinese food buffets. Food and soup are left out in the open. People walk by talking and sometimes touching the food. More germs than usual I would guess ;)
you must have hit the bad one but buffet mean food left out touched by other and keep warmed they say take a clean plat but not clean hands
Its not all Chinese buffet gross! It depends on where did you buy it.. I heard that some Chinese foods in the US are full of soya sauce.. If you want to eat really good Chinese food, come to Asia.. Maybe China or HK or Malaysia would be your 1st choice!!
Then Don't Choose Buffet!!!
