Kitty said: Yes.Why do people call ground beef hamburger when there is no ham in it.?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why do people call ground beef hamburger when there is no ham in it.?),it will help you,my kids.
Answer:
the Hamberg's (people of Hamberg, not kidding) origionaly ground up the cow to put into intestines much like they do with pigs. Later they found that you could cook these grounds into patties, thus bringing the hamburger. Dave Chapelle did a Pepsi ad about it a few years back. I looked it up and it was true ^_^
It was given that name years and years ago as a marketing gimmick. Nothing more.
The Origin of Hamburgers and Ketchup, by Prof. Giovanni Ballarini:
The origin of the hamburger is not very clear, but the prevailing version is that at the end of 1800' s, European emigrants reached America on the ships of the Hamburg Lines and were served meat patties quickly cooked on the grill and placed between two pieces of bread.
In the UK they call them beefburgers.
And why do they call frankfurters that, when they are not made of/in frankfurt? Hamburgers are given that name because that food comes from Hamburg originally; not because they are made from ham.
Originated in Hamburg.
