chocolate originates from the cacoa. it is a tree that produces beans that we get chocolate from. spain is one of the main places where cacoa is grown. there is a long proccess to make chocolate. you can look it up on the internet and learn more. chocolate is not sweet it is originally bitter unitl processed. i am not sure if that is what you mean, but that is what i know about it...in a nut shell

Chocolate is made from the fermented, roasted, and ground beans taken from the pod of the tropical cacao tree Theobroma cacao native to Central America, which has an intensely flavoured bitter taste. The resulting products are known as "chocolate" or, in some parts of the world, cocoa.

The bean products are known under different names in different parts of the world. In the American chocolate industry:

Cocoa is the solids of the cacao bean
Cocoa butter is the fat component
Chocolate is a combination of the solids and the fat
It is the solid and the fat combination, sweetened with sugar and other ingredients, that is made into chocolate bars and which is commonly referred to as chocolate by the public.

It can also be made into beverages (called cocoa and hot chocolate). The first cocoas were made by the Aztecs and the Mayas and later the Europeans.

Chocolate is often produced as small moulded forms in the shape of animals, people, or inanimate objects to celebrate festivals worldwide. For example, moulds of rabbits or eggs for Easter, coins or Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus) for Christmas, and hearts for Valentine's Day.

or

Ingredients:

1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup boiling water
ground pepper of chilies to taste
Directions:

Aztec Chocolate: Grate the unsweetened chocolate into a bowl and cover it with a little of the boiling water. Mash the mixture into a paste. Add the rest of the water and vanilla and beat with an electric mixer until frothy. Add the pepper and chilies to liven up the drink.

The chocolate will not totally dissolve and will have a grittiness to it. For a more authentic drink let the mixture cool and then beat until frothy and drink.

Spanish Chocolate: Follow the directions for the Aztec Chocolate omitting the pepper and chilies and add 3 teaspoons of sugar, plus a dash of cinnamon.

This recipe for Aztec Chocolate and Spanish Chocolate Drink serves/makes 1. cinnamon
