How about a nearby park or a McDonalds?
If it's warm like my sons we had his 1st at a lake . That way you have to provide less entertainment because the kids can swim just put bring swimsuits on the invite. Plus most lakes have grills at them so you can make hot dogs and keep things simple like hot dogs, chips and drinks before the cake.

i have having the same problem.. but i am in Chicago. most people are saying parks.maybe forest preserve?? my little girls 1st b day is in Sept... so i have a little time... maybe a relative place or a family member? i have like 50 people coming and no has a place that big for me.. i am going to have to rent a hall.. good luck! and Happy B Day to your little one!
