Ok is he coming home from being stationed possibly in Iraq, if so Welcome Home Soldier. I am so glad that you were out there protecting us. You are doing a great Job.
Cook his favorite foods. I mean he really isn't going to care what he is eating, he is going to be more thrilled at the idea that he is home and with his loved ones. Make it simple too. You don't want to be spending your time in the kitchen, you are going to want to be with him. Plus with this being your anniversary makes this all the more special. Of course get a cake. Go with your typical picnic foods, hamburgers, hot dogs on the grill, go with hot sausage and bratwurst too. Potatoe salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw. Chips, pretzels dips. If he has been away with the military anything you give him the first few days is going to be awesome especially after eating MRE's and mess hall cooking.
