Okay, so I wanted to have a graduation party for my classmates and I, we are graduating the sixth grade and moving on to middle school, and almost everyone is going to a different school, so, ya know, kinda a "goodbye" party.
I did a ton of research, and I know where I want to do it, when I want to do it, and even the schedule for the party. I know that money is tight, but I put together everything and it came to aboout $250. I know I can't get an answer right now, but with that price includes: food, drinks, condiments, place to rent for the party, cake, plates, napkins, cups, party favors, EVERYTHING. I researched to see exactly how much this would cost, and I even called Wegmans to get an estimate on the cake!
I want to present this to my mom and dad, and i am willing to work for the money. how can i present this idea in a convincing way, so they might even consider it? PLEASE, anything will help!

I think the most important thing that you could do is do lots of research (which you have done)- your parents will appreciate that you care about this and they will respect that. Also make sure your parents are aware of a few things:
1) You will know everyone there and can attest to their good character.
2) You will be responsible for everything
3) Your parents can come! (well, probably not, but they can at least check out where it is...)
4) And anything else you can think of - you know your parents better than i do.
Wow! You've done your homework! To do a party up like you're talking about and having it on a budget of $250 is amazing! I'm wondering if you divided the cost between, say, 3 of your classmates and yourself, if it would be easier to sell it to your parents? If you and even 2 of your class mates can go in together it would only be about $75 per family and even less if there are 4 of you. If you can't do that, then bring your parents on board with your ideas but also be open to theirs. Tell them that you really would like to make this work and how can the three of you put your heads together to make it happen? They will appreciate your hard work as well as your desire to work with them on this project.
I realize money is tight, but when you present this to them they'll be amazed at how mature and prepared you are. They'll probably ask you how you intend to raise the money, so be prepared for that. With your ingenuity, I'm sure they'll kick in some money, however much they can, for this milestone in your life. Also tell them you'd like them to be there for it and that you've asked *friend's* parents too for chaperones. They'll be much more comfortable knowing that there will be a few adults there and set their minds at ease.

Well, just presenting your research on how much everything will cost should impress them if not convince them. You really did all that work on your own before you told your parents? Way to go! Anyway, if I were you, I would have all my facts straight before talking to my parents about it, that way if they have any questions you could answer them with no problem. I would also have all the information written or typed out so that your parents can go over it themselves. Other than that, I think that you are pretty much set to go!
Well, what i always do is tell them reasons why we should have the party. Like, you said almost all of you are going to different schools, so you wont talk to them as much. you could also tell them everything you've done to find out the cost and stuff. If they say it is too much money, you could eliminate things that arent as necessary. hope i helped. good luck girly!

wow you are pretty smart. take your idea to your friends and other classmates and see what they can chip in and attempt to raise some of the money that way when you approach your parents and tell them how much it is going to cost it wont be so much and you can then tell them what you told us. the only thing i can suggest is to see if all the kids can chip in 15.00 each and you can have a better party. good luck !!!
