Is the top of a pineapple too cheesy? Just the part with the leaves =)
Maybe do something with pineapples? They are large enough to make something interesting and even if you slice into them, the smell is great and fragrant and could be appetizing as well.
bird of paradise floral arrangement
beautiful mini fruit platter with a whole pineapple as the center, add a few Lilly's
maybe drape a real lei through it..
good luck
you mean other than using pineapples and/or coconuts with mini umbrellas, mini grass skirts, and lays....oh, what about a free cd of Don Ho's greatest hits..........oh, you said you didn't want it to be too cheesy.
The simplest would be to use fresh pineapples surrounded by leis. You can find leis at any party supply store and defuse the cheese factor by being very selective about which color you get.
If you really want to do it up, use fresh orchid or hyacinth blossoms. But if you really want to make the theme stand out, there are several websites that center around polynesian tiki themed stuff. Check out www.webetiki.com and www.tikifarm.com or just google search "tiki decorations". You should find more ideas than you can wrap a hula skirt around.
What about half a coconut with flowers floating and candles floating in water inside the coconut.
well i suggest that you take a tall vase not too tall though and fill it with water and add some red food coloring then place some small twigs that are not dirty and go up to the top of the water then buy some flowers and places them lightly on the top of the water and the should float. place it in the middle of the table and it will look great.
