Try looking at http://www.menupages.com -they have recently added a Chicago section. You can look at reviews and see menus with prices. That way, you can be sure there will be something that everyone will like, and be sure the prices fit your budget.
Riva's. It is great!
Or Ignotz off of Racine. They have a great atmosphere and even better desserts. (Italian Food)

there's a really good greek restaurant in Lombard...i think it's called Parthenon, maybe?

my personal suggestion (if you are on the south side) would be to visit Chi Tung, great inexpensive food
I went to Riva Restaurant and it is the best place ever in Chicago, wonderful food and staff and masses on the plates.
Fogo De Choa. It's in Down town Chicago. It's REALLY GREAT.
