I love luau--- ham &pinapple kebabs, fruity drinks, polynesian chicken, so easy to do! flowers and fruit! great for summer and a lot available at party stores.
I also really like Appetizer only party--- old fashioned cocktail party...wear a little black dress... make little mini quiche, stuffed potatoes, raw veggie bar, little sandwiches ...whatever you like only little... and serve fun cocktails like mojito's and margaritas along with screwballs.

chips soda.Thats all the food you need maybe some candy
YOu want movie movies and good ones
make it a gathering not a party
cause bascially people dont dance.
You want movies and Games. And if you guys smoke HAVE SOME POT.it always helps out at a chill sessioon

heck tell them to bring there own Drugs and there own Music.

get a small room living room or bedroom put the AC on 50 and Waist the night away

Im planning a tropical themed party for some friends next month, I went to a local party store and found some ballons with palm trees on theme and a little blow up cooler with palm trees, different decorations, Hope this helps ya out some
Have a "show and tell" party. Have everyone bring a dish, and a secret surprise that they will present to everyone. Tell them in advance that their "show and tell" item will become a raffle prize by pulling names out of a hat, after all the show and tell prizes have been presented. First name drawn out of the hat gets to pick their favorite show and tell "prize"!
I would say you could do the "Rocky Horror Picture Show." The only caveat is that people would have to have actually seen the RHPS to know what to expect. You dress up in character, sing along with the characters in the movie. Do the "Time Warp!" "Let's do the time warp again!" "Come up to the lab and see what's on the slab!" It's a cool movie!

You might want play some music that you and your guest might like I can't really come up with a good theme.
Get guests to bring a different dish and have lots of alcohol.
make it fancy dress..come as your favourite ??
or make a theme like 'the letter B' and have people comes as bees and have balloons and serve butterfingers and bon-bons and play basketball and backgammon...fun stuff.
At my parties I always have a few vases of fresh flowers and alot of candles in every room.I serve finger foods cheeses/veggies/fruits etc and I always have pitchers of margerita and electric popsicle(gin/vodka various juices&grenadine)I allow my guests to choose from my music selection.Other than that I just sort of wing it;)
Fear Factor Party...Use some imagination and set up stupid stunts if your outside or different "treat's" to eat if your inside. I did one and when people are drinking they can do some amazing things...Plus couples and singles can be involved and it breaks the ice on people conversing...I didn't spend a whole lot of money and people weren't worried about 50,000 dollars @ the end...It was a blast...
i would prefer bbq but i think you had that couple of weeks ago so i will probably go for finger food this time. chicken wing is a must...sandwiches, and..actually i will only attack the wings if i am invited ;p

cheap beer, grilled spam sandwiches, lots of bags of snacks some ranch dressing to use for dip
shrimp ring say the kind that you would get at wal mart
make the men all wear wife beaters
( sleeveless white t- shirts)
men should wear favorite nascar drivers hat
the women lots of spandex
case of Boone's farm wine cost about 60 bucks
all your food should come from wal mart
and for heavens sake don't forget about the wal mart fried chicken, potato salad a few cubes of grilled spam cut down and some cheap light beer.
try it you'll like it
and if you can get some one who is dating their uncle or aunt that would be icing on the cake
