I typed oval dinner plates into yahoo search and came up with pages of them...try that.
ikea, try their web site
oval dinner plates would be platters. Look on ebay or go to an outlet and buy only platters
try somewhere like john lewis or debanhams, i managed to get square plates there

i just bought a set in Homestore + More they were only €12.99 for 4 plates 4 bowls and 4 mugs
Oval plates are generally referred to as platters. I've looked for oval dinner plates and while I found some oddly shaped plates, none of them were oval.

matalan have a good selection
Most grocery stores have them. They're the oval cardboard-strength. They're a little more pricey and don't come in huge quanities. The store will probably only have one brand. Good luck!
Try Bed Bath and Beyond they have all sorts of dinner ware good luck!
I have seen and purchased them from large food chains like Kroger, and Meijers in the Midwest.
They are normally heavy duty and hold up well.

My grand parents have these. They're great.
