Dip the rim of the glass in water or lemon juice or some other liquid and then into a plate of sugar.
For things like Strawberry Margaritas, to get the sugar on the brim you should wet a paper towel ( nice and drippy ) press the brim of the cup in it and then in the sugar. I would only do this with sweet drinks, if you try it with something like a traditional margarita it wont turn out right. Good luck and I hope this answered your question.
actually water or juice is not the best...beat an egg white with a little cold water and pour onto a saucer and dip the rims in that before dipping in castor sugar...works a treat
