I am taking a very beautiful and elegant girl out to dinner tonight. She likes her food and appreciates good taste but doesn't expect it to cost the earth. Which is good, because I don't have much cash to call my own. So: I am looking for a good restaurant within easy walking distance of London's Leicester Sq: Thai, Italian, French, whatever. Must be mid-range and good food - I want to pay about £60 max for the meal including wine.

Answer:
If you're wanting to impress a girl with food you probably want to head away from Leicester Square itself. The restaurants on the square or on the roads immediately off really are for tourists, and you'll pay well above the odds for a mediocre meal. Either head into Chinatown (though it's hard to know if the food anywhere will really hit the spot), or head towards Covent Garden. I'd recommend Origin on Endell street, which serves fantastic food, and you should be able to stay within budget so long as you don't go crazy with the wine. Both these areas are five minutes from Leicester Square.
Jewel in Glass House Street is a winner, great food and atmo, prices reasonable.

Check it out, there will be plenty of reviews avaible on line.
