Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Help! Possible disco-themed New year's party @ work. 200 ppl. Need ideas for men),it will help you,my kids.
Answer:
How about a bunch of appitizers
chips and a few different dips look in a specialty store for some interesting dips
Mini meatballs
monzerella sticks
cheese and crackers
mini egg rolls
A big pot of white turkey chili and a big pot of ground beef chili. large green salads. Don't forget the disco balls from the dollar store, big hair and lots of blush.
Or, aim for pot luck and save yourself a lot of work.
I would go Italian or Mexican. Good ol' mac and cheese, or cream cheese and salsa with tortilla chips are my faves. Forget the pigs in a blanket! My absolute nummy fave at parties is those little smoky sausages drenched in BBQ sauce with toothpicks. Cheap and scrummy! I hope that I could help. :)
serving 200ppl won't be easy. I'd go for some kind of 'potjie' it's a mixure of all kinds of vegies, some oxtail and lots of water. Make a great big fire and put the pot on some coals. Leave it to cook for about 2 hours. Serve with rice and green salads. By the time the foods ready people will be to drunk to eat and those who does eat will love you for the great food!
Have a buffet with lots of finger foods since people will be grazing during songs. Since dancing is the key to your parties success you want to have high energy foods as well. Maybe you can rent a champagne fountain too. Here are a few more ideas to help make your party a success.
Create a Disco Dance Club by hanging silver and gold ceiling-to-floor streamers. Rent a mirrored disco dance ball from a party supply outfitter (about $30) or make your own from a beach ball covered with reflective stickers. And don't forget the Strobe Lights!
Invest in a few disco dance party CDs and the Saturday Night Fever sound track, the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, Farrah Fawcett, and every party has cheerleader types who dance everywhere anyway, so let that crew get the party started with a few well-known dance tunes. Pretty soon, even the most die-hard dance-phobes will be out there shaking some booty.
What to wear? Leisure Suits, Big Gold Chains, Polyester Shirts,
Halter Dresses & Tops and Leotards of course. And you musn't forget hot pants and platform shoes.
Have a Great One.
It wont be that cheap with 200 people. What is the budget?
How about several pans of baked ziti and salad?
Since it is going to be a new years party-----buffet finger foods--chips and dips, veggy tray, fresh fruit, hot wings, make a tray of sandwich fixings,a basket of rolls(for the sandwiches),cheese trays, and a dessert isle.Make it a potluck and let everyone bring their favorite dishes....
let's see.....Disco.....70's........
DEFINATELY....FONDUE
Okay - I was around in the 70's - that was the beginning of Nachos. Chips & dips. Hot dogs. Twinkies, Oreos and Ding-Dongs. Drinks like Harvey Wallbangers, Tequila Sunrises and Flaming Orgies were all the rage - oh yeah and Sangria was definitely something that people ordered a lot of in the clubs.
Keep on Truckin'
