im having a sweet 16 and its going to be an oscars theme. i have no clue what to do and for cheap? any suggestions

This is a awesome idea. Evite has some really cool Movie night invitations with Award Night themes. What you could do is set you room up like a movie theater ( you could have chasing white Christmas lights up around the top of the room slowly chasing ), put up some movie posters, a red carpet ( for when your guests enter ), a large silver or gold star hanging on the bathroom door ( dressing room), have some disposable cameras available ( paparazzi ), you could have either some Oscar winning movies playing on t.v or you could have some movie soundtracks playing on a c.d player.

For a table decorating idea : use a black tablecloth sprinkled with glitter with either gold or silver disposable plates, cups, utensils, napkins. For place setting you could take plastic sunglasses and attach your guests names to it ( black paper with a silver or gold pen and attach with a coordinating color ribbon)

You could have some popcorn in those cute movie theater tubs (ht-express.com) available ( also have some of those shaker topping like they have at the theater ). Have some star shaped sugar cookies ( have movie star names on them ( use cake decorating gel ) - Hollywood walk of fame), for snacks set up a movie concession stand ( hot dogs (shopping.com keyword nostalgia electrics hot dog roller), nachos, different candy in the theater packs, soda). You also could have cupcakes with each of this years nominated movies or movies that have won in the past written on them.

Alright, drees as Oscars esposa and say "I'm Oscar de LA hoya's esposa.
My sister had all of her friends help her paint her dresser with their handprints and signatures.
1. Have the girls dress up in "prom" dresses and walk a red carpet as they arrive- have someone taking photos. If you have a digital camera, play them later as a slide show on the computer.

2. Have Oscar winning movies playing throughout the night.

3. Have a list of awards and let the girls vote for them- Hand out the awards at the end of the evening.

the dollar stores have great decorations.depending on were you live most party supply stores have thier summer decorations on sale or just do a costume party .have fuuuuuuuuun
