Answer:
On a White Bed Sheet, paint or draw a picture of a famous building or place in Italy. Give it some color. Hang it up on a wall, people can take their picture in front of it. My mom did that for a party once. She painted the leaning tower of Pizza. It was cool. Cook authentic recipes for every one. Make mixed drinks, or drink wines. Put up lights, and favors with alot of colors. The flag colors are okay. Give out party favors that have some Italian design on it, or something to that effect.
Play music by Italian singers. Or get a few performers, who know dances from Italy, and play Italian music.
Make the party fun, and lively.
Rent casino games. Many Casino party suppliers have home party packages for less than $1000 and they include dealers.
Easy prep food -
Frozen lasagne (can't beat home made, but it's alot easier)
Bagged salad
Baked ziti and sausage
Breadsticks
Shrimp in garlic butter
Red wine, plates of grapes, strawberries and cut melon.

We did a round robin once that was a blast. We had wine and crusty bread, cheese at one house, then salad and antipasto at the next. Our third house was the main course but since that husband/wife were taking italian lessons they had us each order (up to 3 items each) everything (they had about 4 diff. dishes) ..this included the silverware and bowl, plate, napkin, etc. This was hysterical as we got literally what we ordered brought out to us (sometimes in paper cups we had to tip to our mouth if we didn't 'order' a bowl or spoon) Afterwards we all got to go to the kitchen to sample anything we hadn't tried yet. lastly we went to the last house for some italian pastries, cheesecake and coffee. It was fun and a way to get everyone involved.
pizza,chicken parmigiana,spaghetti
fettucini alfredo will never fail! everyone loves it! unless you have lactose intolerent people coming. but the fettucini with some breadsticks, a big salad with italian salad dressing (at the olive garden restaurant they sell bottles of amazing salad dressing) and some great minastroni soup (sorry i dont know how to spell minastroni, but it is a great italian soup with little shell noodles in it and vegetables and some meat, normally ham).
hopefully some of my ideas help! have a fantastic party!

There is no way that you could go wrong with spaghetti for an Italian party. Everyone likes spaghetti! Also bread sticks and salad. Red wine is always good with pasta and a favorite Italian wine.
Good luck with your party!

Decorating with balloons, is an inexpensive but powerful way to transform your party area into a festive space in minutes. Fill balloons with helium. Tie curling ribbon to balloons and group them together. (Odd numbers look best: 3, 5, or 7) Place groupings of balloons around the party site. Tie a bunch of helium-filled balloons to the guest of honor’s chair, or tie one balloon to the back of each chair around the birthday table. Fill balloons with helium and attach to a balloon weight to create inexpensive centerpieces. If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon and hang balloons from the ceiling or from a light fixture over the party table. Inside your front door, hang an enlarged picture of your guest of honor displayed on an easel. Attach helium filled balloons or a Mylar balloon displaying their new age!

Have your caterer get gondola shaped display containers to set on buffet tables Shape it with duct tape, paint it, add the oars, and set in the middle of the room. Fill loaves of bread and different varieties of dried pasta.
In the background, play Italian Music, your favorite operas, such as "The Barber of Seville," or tenors such as Pavarotti or Bocelli. Or Hire a violinist. The violinist can go from table to table serenading everyone.
Divertimento!
Have fun with some games and activities, Italian style.
Play "Speak Italian?" Write down some common Italian phrases and see if the players can figure out what they mean. Turn it into a game of charades by dividing into groups and acting out the translations of the phrases.
