My daughter and niece both turned forty and they were adamant about not having any reference to their age. Just my experience. So if you are giving the party for someone else, I would make sure that they don't feel the same way about the big 40.... Not a direct answer to your question, but something that came immediately to mind when you mentioned 40 and birthday.
if you have microsoft word, then go to http://office.microsoft.com and search up birthday invites under templates. It's not that hard to figure out.
write it in on www.ask.co.uk, put in free pics for birthdays
Go to Google.com and select the images to search by. This should be just above the box where you tye in what you want to search on the home page. I have added a URL below. Then search on anything from 40 birthday to something that they like. Fishing, shoppping, island, holiday, cake- most of the images can be copied and pasted..... GOOD LUCK

Go onto Microsoft word and clipart (if you have it)
take a picture of a tie say, on a gigigtal camera and then put it on the invites
