Put the word out to parents and local businesses for "Thank You Baskets."
You can collect gift certificates, homemade cookies and candies, donated spa items, etc. You can make a basket for each teacher , filling as items come in. The community will likely donate to the cause, have the kids go door to door.
Present the baskets at the end of the week at an outdoor party- maybe you can get a band (a student pop or rock band) and invite the local news and newspapers to take pics.
Don't do another paper certificate, do something a little more tangible. You can also add a video segment, following the kids around as they go to businesses, pick out and buy items and as they make the baskets.

I made a thank you quilt. Give the kids a square where they could either paint their hand or write a special message to their teacher then have their class picture put in the center of the quilt.
my daughter's teacher has a sweet tooth so we made her caremel , chocolate covered apple with lots of gummy bears (she loves gummys) We made them together and the kid loved smearing the stuff all over the apple. Also, I wrapped it up in wonderful celophane with hearts on it..and lots of ribbons....lovely gift that she loved...and ate all ...good luck
a few friends of mine who are teachers always like having lunch made for them so they don't have to make and take one for a day or more and almost all of them like goodies that are easy to hide in the desk and nibble on lol like kisses,and m&ms,small cracker pacs fruit chews ect so how about a basket of goodies and lunch with a spring theme ,put little pots with flowers on the tables etc they will appriciate it
How about a mini awards ceremony and give little awards(maybe even made by the kids)to each teacher. Call it the Academic Awards. Ex.: For the Best Male teacher in the Sixth grade, room whatever with a name beginning with______ and the winner is Mr. ______________!
Im not sure what grade youre kids are in but in kindergarten we had the whole class put their hand prints on a tee shirt
and wrote on it in puffy paint their names and date.
Forget the awards or crafty junk (it just ends up collecting dust in the attic), and forget anything food related (if people are trying to eat healthy, you may not be doing them a favor). If you want to give a gift that the TEACHER will really use and enjoy, have a bake sale, garage sale or car wash to raise funds for gift certificates to a local beauty spa for a luxury pedicure or a massage, or some theater or concert tickets perhaps. Can't think of anyone who deserves it more, and our poor teachers are so badly underpaid they can't afford those kinds of luxuries for themselves! Nice that you want to involve the kids, but please remember that TEACHER appreciation week is not supposed to be all about the kids -- use this opportunity to teach your children about making sacrifices and giving back to the people who make so many sacrifices to give to them.
