Answer:
you can buy ready made ones but they dont taste the same as home made ones just follow these instructions and you will impress the man you love..
Ingredients
12 medium slices white bread
50g/2oz unsalted butter, softened
8 free-range egg yolks
175g/6oz caster sugar
1 vanilla pod or few drops vanilla extract
300ml/? pint milk
300ml/? pint double cream
25g/1oz sultanas
25g/1oz raisins
caster sugar, for sprinkling
Method
1. Grease a 1.75 litre/3 pint pudding basin with butter.
2. Butter the bread, remove the crusts and cut in half diagonally, creating triangles.
3. Whisk the egg yolks and caster sugar together in a bowl.
4. Split the vanilla pod, if using, and place in a pan with the milk and cream or add the vanilla extract. Bring the milk and cream to the simmer, then sieve onto the egg yolks, stirring all the time.
5. Arrange the bread in layers in the prepared basin, sprinkling the sultanas and raisins in between layers. Finish with a final layer of bread without any fruit on top.
6. Pour the warm egg mixture over the bread and leave to soak for 20 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
8. Place the dish in a roasting tray three-quarters filled with warm water. Lightly cover with buttered kitchen foil and place in the oven for 20-30 minutes until it begins to set.
9. Preheat the grill to medium.
9. Remove from the water bath, sprinkle liberally with caster sugar and glaze under the grill until the sugar dissolves and caramelises. Serve.
Bread and butter pudding is REALLY easy to make (Creme brulee is not though!).
Basically all you do is butter some bread, layer it in a dish, pour over a mixture of milk, egg, sugar and spices (and raisins if you like), then stick it in the oven. Its probably one of the easiest puddings to make, and just imagine how impressed he'd be if you made him one yourself!
Here are a few recipes:
Go to your local deli and see what they have their. Many grocery stores now have a deli section also. Taste before you buy tho. They are prepared for this and have tiny tasting spoons.
Can also purchase a boxed custard mix(it tastes good) and follow the recipe on the box for bread pudding. Basically all you do is add the bread and raisins. Easy. Look around in this section and I think you may find a creme-brule type also. Bon a pete.

Oh, please. Those two are simple enough. Learn to make them.
I agree home cooked is best if puds are not your forte try him with a M&S bread & butter. It's not bad as shop bought goes.
Anyone can make bread pudding. Now Creme Brule is usually another story. But a little secret is if you go to Bed Bath and Beyond they have a mix and the blow torch and the ramekins.I use it all the time for dinner parties and it is always a showstopper.I usually top it with fresh berries too. trust me you make him Creme Brule and he will be asking you to marry him.It worked for me! Good luck!
As you don't want to make them, Marks and Spencer do nice ones and so do Tescos and Waitrose
since you said that you are rubbish at it,get it from waitrose or Asda.
