It needs to be somewhat conservative, but still fun. any ideas? The celebration will be during business hours so nothing outrageous.

Answer:
If you want to be really trendy - I would set up a coffee, tea and hot cocoa bar - hiring someone to be the barista. Serve cappuchinos, health shakes, etc. Then just add some muffins or cookies.

If you wanted it to be really classy - print out nice stickers with your company's logo - and the fact that it is our 1 year anniversary - these can be placed on the styrofoam cups you are serving your drinks in.

Another suggestion would be to have very small bags (think penny candy size) - put your sticker with the logo on these bags- and then fill with some candy or wrapped cookies, a brochure about your company and perhaps either a magnet with your company logo or a pen or pencil with your company logo on it.

If you want to go more traditional - get a big sheet cake that says happy one year on it.
Finger foods are always fun and easy to serve like Sushi, Sashimi, or Tempura for the ones who don't "appreciate" sushi. Sushi is always a food that sparks conversation (usually the ones who eat it explain what it is to the ones who don't eat it).

Good luck!
make it a western day. simple, easy and could be fun.
If you decide to have the food prepared and delivered to your office, you may finfd this information page helpful:

You can play 'Pin the tail on the donkey' since that is an old classic game.
For food, you can take home made macaroni salad or something you can whip up in no time.
What about sharing past memories together by having a DVD Slideshow put together. I have given these before for numerous occasions and they are always a hit.

You can combine personal / memorable photos with music customized to your preferences.

I have used CT Imaging in the past, they are located at http://www.ctimaging.com
