Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(My husband and i are part of a supper club and once a month we take turns in hos),it will help you,my kids.
It is our turn this weekend,What should we cook ?
There are 12 people in total and two are vegetarian who eat fish but not shellfish, my hisband and one of the other guys are real meat eaters and don't think they have eaten until they have had red meat .Any ideas? Don't want to spend all day in the kitchen.
Answer:
Lasagna! One pan of meatless, the other pan with meat. Serve bread and salad with it. A nice red wine. Something sweet for dessert!
Maybe skewers on the grill? You could do some veggie skewers as well as some with meat mixed in. Do some banana, pineapple and other fruit skewers on the grill (fruit is wonderful grilled) and serve them over ice cream for dessert! It is getting to be BBQ season so this would be a fun way to have dinner outside and the skewers would be easy, but wonderful!
Serve sides of salad, potato salad, etc. so that everyone has plenty!
Enjoy!
Make a big salad. Make a cheese platter. pizza?
mini hamburgers for the meat lovers. Rice?
You can also make two little sides of meat and shrimp.
and a big thing of pasta or rice. I think that will be okay.
Spagetti and large meatballs and a large tossed salad with veggie chunks and a sweet & sour dressing. For desert chocolate pudding with crushed Oreo's on top and a side of Cool-Whip.
serve salmon. Tell your husband to get over the red meat thing or go to in and out after the party.
Salmon is perfectly cooked with this technique.
heat oven to 300 degrees for 20 min.
cut salmon into 3 oz servings. Marinade with SoyVeh salad dressing for 20 min and bake for 20 min.
serve with cus cus salad. and a lemon ice desert with an assortment of fresh in season fruit like strawberries.
make humus and soft cheese and wine for apps.
I would offer kabobs. Soak lots of skewers in water. You can use swordfish or salmon for the fish eaters, Steak for the meat eaters, and lots of vegetables. Marinate the steak and seafood separately, vegetables all together. Grill on the barbecue outside or on a grill pan inside. Serve on a large platter of rice, cooked with salt, a teaspoon or so of grated lemon zest and parsley. A tossed salad of baby greens, and a variety of veggie toppings. Good luck, it's sounds really fun.
You can't go wrong with soup. Vegetable soup.
grilled kebobs and rice. you can do steak and veggies ones, swordfish and veggies ones, and just plain veggies ones
You could make a few trays of Chinese food and serve it buffet style. There are quite a few vegetarian dishes or you could even use the fake lobster/crab (which is really pollock fish). This way you could also include meat dishes like pepper steak or cashew chicken.
throw some nice porterhouse steak on the grill and tell the vegetarians they're gay and eat some meat.
How about Whole Wheat Pesto Pasta with Tofu... Fancy but completly vegetarian... Then make some medium size meat balls as a side. Double that with a yummy salad and some wine and presto pesto you've got dinner.
A nice pot of homemade vegetable soup with dumplings. Have a loaf of warm french bread, a variety of cheeses, and fresh fruit as well as chilled wines to complement your dinner.
the lasagna idea is great. but it's easier to bake a roast. While you have the oven on you can throw in a variety of potatoes. Yams, russet, purple, Yukon.
Mediterranean platters are always nice. they're festive and filling, and you can omit the meat.
