hi, I need ideas for a pot luck. The teachers are grouped and it's now my groups turn to come up with a theme and then the food to go along with the theme. They already have done tacos, desserts, sundays, baked potato, salads, soups, and pasta. Thanks for any help.
Answer:
How about polynesian or hawaiian. Then people could dress up too!
rice
try japanese or chinese theme... experiment on making spring rolls or fried rice.
How about harvest??? Like thanksgiving but in a different season...
You can try Asian foods. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai foods. You can also try a BBQ. (ribs, hambugers, hot dogs, pizzas)
How about Chili.
seafood fest
how about BBQ
easy and kids Love the kebab sticks and sausages you can do potato's veges
I shall assume that when you had tacos, the theme was Mexican and so on for each entre. How about a chili cookoff? Add some variations on a good cornbread, some salad and a red and white chili and you're cooking!
food and specialties from around the world!.
That's creative!
I've done it at my son's preschool. It was great!
Healthy Choices Veggie Tray With Dips, Sandwich Wraps, Rice Cakes, Fruit, Fruit Juices
PETA Potluck! all veggies! throw in some rice & tofu!!
How about an island theme, like say, different foods eaten in Hawaii? Some pineapple, a roasted pig (ok that might be a stretch) Get some leis and grass skirts and you're all set!
do appetizers.
How about Pig roast? or luau? or cuban? a Picnic theme would be fun. or a tailgating party?
Tapas! Fun, yummy, little appetizers. And they don't necessarily need to be Spanish...you can mix it up.
How about dishes from colonial times? Doing the research, kids will learn something too.
How about a Time of Day theme.... give each person a time of day (8 AM, noon, 6 PM, midnight) and ask them to bring something they'd serve at those times. You'll get a great variety.
If your school is very diversed... how about an "Around The World" theme? or something multi-cultural... and people could bring in popular dishes from their culture/country... like sushi (Japan), spaghetti (Italy), fried chicken (American), curry (India), chow mein/noodles (China), burritos (Mexico), kimchi (Korean), pineapples (Hawaiian), french bread (France).... etc etc.
could be creative and good way of trying stuff you've never tried before??
Now I'm hungry...
